Northrop Grumman's Language Now System Incorporates AppTek Technology

MCLEAN, VA – May 3, 2007 - Products from AppTek, a leader in human language technology (HLT) including Machine Translation and Automatic Speech Recognition, have been successfully used in Northrop Grumman’s Language Now, an automated foreign language processing tool designed to assist analysts in locating high value electronic documents located on hard drives, portable media, and other data repositories. Language Now is a web-based integration of Commercial-off-the- shelf (COTS) and Government-off-the-shelf (GOTS) natural language processing tools used to support analysts in identifying foreign language documents of interest. Machine Translation (MT) via Applications Technology (AppTek) and Translation Memory tools: MT can be executed on individually identified files, through batch processing large amounts of data, and overnight using keyword sets on archived system data. User Profiles, collections of keyword sets unique to an individual, via custom code and AppTek Lexicon API provide users the ability to create, manage, delete, and upload existing keywords and/or keyword sets. Search and Retrieval via AppTek Information Retrieval (IR) and file metadata provides searching in English and Arabic. Entity Extraction (EE) of proper nouns and predefined ontology provided via AppTek Name Finder.
